Election Blues

I am now an Election Officer with the County of Santa Clara Registrar of Voters, after attending a 3 1/2 hour class this afternoon. There sure is a lot of background work that goes into an election. Thank an Election Officer when you see them on Tuesday. I now have a greater appreciation for the voting process, even if it is rigged.

I called the Naval Reserve and requested a recruiter call me back. This was after a telephone conversation with my dad. My initial choice was the Army National Guard based on the prospect of receiving a $20,000.00 signing bonus, but he nixed that idea. I was able to narrow down the Naval Reserve, Air Force Reserve, or the Coast Guard. Based on my age, the Naval Reserve won out. There are some good programs and anything to help offset the cost of college. My interest peeked with their JAG program. I have learned today that anything is possible; follow your dreams.

Next up is the call to mom. Both my parents served in the military (dad – Marines; mom- Navy) and I am wondering how my mom will respond to my idea.

And if that doesn’t pan out, there is always another government job.
